2012 Upper Midwest Hazelnut Growers Conference
March 2-3,2012 Decorah, IA
The 2012 Upper Midwest Hazelnut Growers Conference will be held at the historic Hotel Winneshiek in beautiful Decorah, Iowa, March 2nd and 3rd. Friday, March 2nd will be geared toward beginning or aspiring growers, as well as those wishing to bruch up on the basics. This Hazelnuts 101 course from 1:00-5:00 will highlight all the basics and real growers will be present to answer questions. Instructors from Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin will cover topics such as site preparation, soil testing, planting, management and care, harvesting, and more.
All full day of the latest research updates, informative presentations, and stimulating discussion are planned for Saturday, March 3rd. A processing demonstration and trade show is planned for Saturday afternoon and possibly Friday evening to showcase the latest in processing techniques and equipment at different scales.
A noon lunch is provided for Saturday and participants are encouraged to bring their favorite hazelnut treat to share on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
